Comet’s limitations are equally concrete. Perplexity’s operating-system page, updated 6 August 2026, officially supports Windows 10 and 11 plus macOS 13 or later, and says Linux, ChromeOS, iOS and Android are not supported. The same page specifies 4 GB of RAM as a minimum, 8 GB recommended, and at least 2 GB of free disk space. Those constraints make Comet a desktop specialist even though its AI workflow feels more ambitious than many cross-platform assistants.

Opera Neon: Best for Agentic Automation and Developers

Opera Neon is the most explicit attempt here to make the browser an execution environment. Its product positioning centres on Chat, Do, Make, research modes and an agent that can operate across live web context. The differentiator for technical teams is not merely that Neon can click through websites. Opera has exposed the browser to external AI clients through Model Context Protocol connectivity, which allows tools such as ChatGPT, Claude and automation systems to work with the active browser session when authorised.

Monika Kurczyńska, Opera’s Director of R&D for browser AI, said the company was “opening those capabilities to external AI clients through MCP, so they can act directly inside the browser”. Its security documentation is more explicit than many consumer products: Dia says it is Chromium-based, offers end-to-end encrypted Sync, blocks trackers, and contractually restricts AI partners from training on user data. Pricing is less transparent in the public pages I could verify. Dia can be downloaded for free and its site promotes a Pro path for heavier chat usage, but I could not confirm a current public Pro price from the official indexed pages used for this review. Microsoft Edge: Best for Microsoft 365 Organisations

Edge is the least disruptive choice for organisations already governed through Microsoft 365, Entra and Edge policies.
